The last will be first...

We live in a hierarchical society. Everyone believes that in order to get up in the world, one must work hard and diligently. If you want a good job, you must have good experience. If you want respect, you need to build up a good reputation. If you want to be skilled at something, you have to practice, practice, practice. This makes sense, because nothing is going to happen for you if you just sit around and do nothing.

How does this compare to the Kingdom of God? If one person 'works' more towards becoming a better Christian than someone else, is he in some way 'higher up' than the latter person? What does it mean when Matthew 20:16 reads: “So the last will be first, and the first will be last.”?

This Friday we are going to explore these questions, and compare/contrast how this world works with how the Kingdom of God works. Be sure to come out tomorrow to be a part of this discussion! We will be meeting in the Blue House at 7:15pm.
